The San Diego Gymnastics & Parkour Story
How It Started
The first San Diego Gymnastics & Parkour location opened in Point Loma in 2008. Owners Doug and Christina Grady found themselves juggling full-time jobs and their three kids’ activities, including driving 30+ minutes each way to gymnastics three times a week. This quickly helped the Grady’s identify the need for gymnastics in the Point Loma community.
Christina grew up in east county and was an avid gymnast and all-around athlete. She attended the University of California Irvine on a basketball scholarship. Doug grew up in Point Loma and then went on to earn his degree in entrepreneurship at the University of Southern California.
This combination of experience, with the understanding of the demand for gymnastics in Point Loma, made for the key ingredients that sparked the beginning of San Diego Gymnastics & Parkour. With great appreciation for the Peninsula community, SDG grew and became a neighborhood staple.
